OUR STORY

Reclaiming Our Identity Travel was born from a genuine love for the African continent and a deep desire to make its culture, beauty, and history accessible in a meaningful way.

Our Mission

Our mission is simple: to bridge the gap between people and Africa through authentic, immersive travel experiences that educate, inspire, and transform. We are committed to challenging stereotypes, breaking down misconceptions, and removing the mental and financial barriers that have kept so many at a distance from the continent.

We believe that seeing is believing and that Africa must be experienced firsthand.

Why We Do What We Do

Every journey is an opportunity to reconnect with culture, history, and a deeper sense of belonging.

Travel That Transforms.

As founders, we’ve traveled to Africa many times, and with each journey, our connection to the continent has only deepened. Every trip reinforced one powerful truth:

More people need to see this.

We’ve seen how visiting Africa changes perspectives. We’ve watched fear turn into confidence, curiosity turn into understanding, and distance turn into belonging. We’ve experienced firsthand how stepping onto African soil reshapes the way people see themselves, their history, and the world around them.

Reclaiming Our Identity Travel exists to take you beyond headlines and assumptions, and into real, lived experiences with the land, the people, and the culture. Our trips are intentionally designed to be immersive, thoughtful, and deeply inspiring. We don’t believe in rushed tours or shallow encounters. We believe in meaningful connections, authentic engagement, and journeys that leave a lasting impact.

For many, Africa has been misunderstood, misrepresented, or made to feel unreachable. We are committed to changing that narrative. Our mission is to make travel to South Africa accessible, enriching, and transformative- so that more people can experience the beauty, resilience, and brilliance of the continent for themselves.

This is travel that goes beyond sightseeing.
This is travel that reconnects you to history, identity, and purpose.

And when you return home, you won’t just carry souvenirs, you’ll carry a new perspective, a deeper sense of connection, and a story that becomes part of who you are.

Breaking the Myths

One of the biggest misconceptions about traveling to Africa is that it’s either unsafe, uncomfortable, or financially out of reach. We are intentional about proving those assumptions wrong.

Our experiences are carefully curated with everyday travelers in mind who desire meaningful travel but have been told it’s “not possible.” We work with trusted local partners to ensure each trip is:

Safe
